Event Date:
July 25, 2019 - 6:30pm
By Kim Harris

This month, Todd Morgan & the Emblems return for a third season and historian Dr. Michael Fischer will speak on the history of the Nevada Buckaroo at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park.

On Thursday, July 25, at 6:30 pm, Todd Morgan & the Emblems will be performing modern pop/rock and roll, blues, funk, disco, hot jazz, country and early rock ‘n’ roll.

Todd Morgan has been fronting his band, The Emblems, or performing solo for more than ten years in the Sacramento area, as well as throughout California and Nevada. Morgan has been nominated for a SAMMIE three times. In 2015 his album, Sweet Pretender, was rated one of Submerge Magazine’s “Top 15 Albums of the Year”. The song, “Running Wild”, from the album, won West Coast Songwriters’ “Best Song of the Year” and is currently a semi-finalist in the 2019 Nashville “Music City Songstar” competition.

Recording and producing music has become a big love and pursuit in Todd Morgan’s life along with his love of live performance.

The ticket price is $15 for adults, $10 for members and free for 16 years and younger. Space is limited and the event could sell out. Non-member tickets can be purchased at

On Saturday, July 27, at 10:00 am, Dr. Michael Fischer’s program “The Nevada Buckaroo from the Ground Up – His Heritage, Gear and Traditions” will focus on the cowboys of the Great Basin.

Deeply rooted in the vaquero tradition, connections of vocabulary, equipment and procedure are easily noted in today’s Nevada cowboy. At its conclusion, the audience will have an in-depth knowledge of why so many things are done the same way they were 100 years ago.

Dr. Fischer will also speak on the livestock management practices and agricultural personnel of the old H.F. Dangberg Land and Live Stock Company. The question will be answered as to whether it was a sheep or cattle operation.

Dr. Michael E. Fischer was raised and educated in Reno public schools, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nevada Reno and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Southern California. After working in private practice for 31 years, Fischer retired from dentistry and was appointed Director of the Nevada Department of Cultural Affairs, serving in both Governor Gibbons' and Governor Sandoval's Cabinet until the department was formally disbanded. He is now an independent scholar whose interests include the history of Nevada cowboys and ranching, politics, bootlegging, gambling and crime.

Please bring your own seating to all events and no pets allowed - service animals only. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy as no food or beverages will be sold at either of these events.

The Dangberg ranch house will be open for one hour before each event for anyone who would like an introduction to the park’s history.

Brand New Website

tmm 181015a

At this time of year, I’m sure most of you are getting very busy, tis the season!  I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving, I'm truly thankful for all the blessings this year has given me, many wonderful opportunities have been presented that I am very greatful for.  I also offer my prayers for those that have been going through some seriously tough times, the CA fire season has been the worst on record and there are some hurting people out there.  I'll be helping out by taking part in a special production of American Legend on December 2nd benefiting Wildland Firefighter Foundation,

Exciting news! My brand new website is ready and was launched today!  You'll notice there has been a name change,  The old sites name will take you here too and not to worry, Todd Morgan & the Emblems are still rocking in the free world. There are still new additions yet to be added to the site but I am very pleased with its new look and content, and I hope you will enjoy stopping by often to learn of new shows, see new photos, videos and opportunities with cool stuff. So much thanks must be given to our web builder, Dave Soltis, owner of An Internet Store,, in Carmichael CA. Dave and Brett have great skills and were ever so patience with us in getting the site ready. Between winter and spring recording sessions and summers busy show schedule and travels it was hard to keep up and keep focused at times.

As I just alluded to, I recently I began work on a 4th album, title undetermined at this point, in Los Angeles, CA and in Sacramento, followed by a bit more work to be done in the bay area at Tiny Telephone Recording Studio. Watch for more about the new album early in 2019.  Summer came along and both I and The Emblems became very busy with performances.   I had many more solo shows this year than past years, one reason for the site change, and traveled to Canada for Penticton's Pentastic Music Festival. I also hit some venues in Oregon and Washington on my return trip to Sacramento.

One of the most important things that happened for me this Fall, and will become an important step for The Emblems as well, was signing onto The DNS Agency, Things are coming together nicely, Dean is easy and great to work with, and I see this helping my career greatly as we move into 2019.  If you haven't seen it yet, there is a new YouTube channel as well, featuring a brand new lyric video for my song Running Wild,, off the Sweet Pretender album and you can keep a look out for more content coming soon.

Top Albums of 2015: 15 with Sacramento Ties

 | by SubMerge Staff

Like holiday party hangovers and overly optimistic new year’s resolutions, year-end best album lists are a dime a dozen. So what makes ours so special? Well, for one thing, we made it. And we obviously have the kind of refined musical palate you don’t just find by clicking around on the damn internet. More importantly, we split this year’s Top 30 albums list into two distinct portions: 15 albums with connections to the Sacramento area, and 15 albums from the world beyond. There are, of course, many, many, albums that came out over the last year deserving of praise, but these 30 were our favorites. Why? Our staff explains, with Twitter-esque succinctness.
